About this deal

The OEX Hyena II Tunnel Tent is designed to accommodate up to two people, but as mentioned earlier, in reality it’s suitable for one person plus gear. The Coleman Oak Canyon is the perfect tunnel tent for couples and small families looking for a camping holiday with a little bit of luxury. If you do remove the divider, there is enough space for one queen size mattress and a little room for belongings, or a double mattress and tonnes of room.

Is the OEX Hyena II good for wild camping? I’d say that it definitely is, so long as you’re not heading out into extreme weather and you’re happy to carry the 3kg. Despite being priced affordably, the OEX Hyena II Tunnel Tent does not compromise on quality. The tent is made from decent quality materials that are designed to withstand the elements and provide a comfortable shelter for its users. It’s absolutely perfect for a first time wild camper who plans to pitch somewhere that isn’t too wild or extreme. The outer pitches before the inner, which is a great thing if you’re caught in bad weather and need to get the outer up and keep everything else dry. Then it’s a simple case of hooking the inner inside the shell. Waterproofness

The OEX Hyena II Tunnel Tent is designed to provide a comfortable and convenient camping experience. This section will focus on the interior space, storage, and accessories of the tent. Interior space The OEX Hyena II is designed to withstand various weather conditions. This section discusses the tent’s weather resistance in terms of waterproofing, wind resistance and durability. Waterproofing So if you’ve had bad experiences in the past with cheap tents leaking during rain then you can rest assured this tent will never leak on you.

Being double walled and utilizing mesh doors, it also provides ample ventilation to prevent condensation in both summer and winter. The tent is made from good quality materials that are designed to withstand all but the harshest UK weather conditions. The flysheet is made from 68D polyester with a waterproof rating of 4000mm, while the groundsheet is made from 150D polyester with a waterproof rating of 5000mm. The tent also features a breathable inner tent made from 68D polyester, which helps to prevent condensation build-up inside the tent. Tent poles In terms of its winter capabilities, it can handle all the harsh weather you can throw at it. From wind and snow to rain and hail – none of it will make it inside your tent. And if you need any more convincing that this a worth while buy, NTK offer a lifetime replacement on any broken poles. While many 4-season tents are usually only used in winter due to their weight, the Tasmanian is light enough to be comfortably used all year round. The OEX Hyena II is designed to withstand fair winds, but we wouldn’t recommend this tent for use up a mountain where winds can gust even when no wind is forecast. For the price, the tent has a stable tunnel design with two poles, which provides excellent stability in fairly windy conditions. Remember also that budget tents can be a bit ‘flappy’ in winds too. OEX Hyena II Tunnel Tent – comfort and convenience The OEX Hyena II Tunnel Tent is designed to be easy to set up and take down, making it an excellent choice for campers who are perhaps new to pitching tents. The tent comes with clear instructions that are easy to follow, and the colour-coded poles make it simple to identify which pole goes where. In terms of interior space, the easiest way to illustrate the sheer size of the tent is that it is large enough for three queen air mattresses plus room to spare for your belongings.

The Hyena II Tunnel Tent offers a spacious interior, with enough room to comfortably sleep one person plus gear, or two people at a push. The tent also has a large door and two windows that can be opened or closed as needed to control airflow and temperature. For context, a hydrostatic head rating of 2,000mm means the fabric can withstand heavy rain and driving wind, while anything above this can withstand water being pushed through by something physical, such as your body weight when laying on the groundsheet. The OEX Hyena II tent has an HH rating of 5000mm. In layman’s terms that means that this tent is going to be very waterproof and withstand even the most torrential downpours. The rainfly has a hydrostatic head rating of 4,000mm, while the groundsheet has an almost unheard of 10,000mm hydrostatic head rating. Overall, the OEX Hyena II Tunnel Tent is an excellent choice for anyone looking for a tent that is easy to set up, even if you’re not an experienced camper. The clear instructions and colour-coded poles make it simple to put together. Weather resistance

However, that’s not to say that I would trust this tent on the side of a mountain in a proper gale. That’s just not what this tent is made for at this price. Other Features

The Hyena II Tunnel Tent has several storage options to help keep the interior organised and clutter-free. The tent features a fairly large vestibule at the front, which provides additional storage space for gear, shoes, and other camping essentials. The vestibule also has a built-in groundsheet, which helps to keep the interior clean and dry. The Hyena II features a range of design elements and features that make it a reliable and practical choice for basic camping trips. Tent materials At 3kg it’s obviously not the lightest two-person tent on the market, but it is easily manageable at that weight and if you’re new to camping or if you’re looking to try your first wild camping adventure, this price point could make that little bit of extra weight worth carrying. Suitable for 5 to 7 people depending upon how much space you would like, the tent comes supplied with two interior tents to create three separate areas. You can comfortably pitch the OEX Hyena II in less than 10 minutes. The poles are colour-coded to avoid any confusion and once the poles are threaded through it’s just a case of pegging it out and adjusting the ropes.
