Now, I think I'm close to reaching the world limit so I'm going to be a bit more brief with these next comments.And despite the charred hamburgers and constant F-bombs, the girls liked being with me, and they always gave me extra long hugs when it was time for them to go back to their mom. She’s 22, he’s an asshole to her and she gives up her dream job to be saddled to his grouchy ass with his 2 kids and shit-tonne of baggage.

Towards the end it got really cheesy but I managed to overlook it) Both leads were likeable as individuals but even better together. As a former Navy SEAL and current firefighter, thirty four year old Dex cherishes the time he gets to spend with his young daughters, Hallie and Luna. I would recommend this book to anybody who loves substance in building a character, small giggles, small yet thoughtful gestures that would make a woman happy, cared for and adored. I also loved the moments with Dex being a sweet dad, though those are his only instances of softness.However, there are lots of references to Winne’s parent’s story and how it is parallel in nature to her and Dex’s story. Well, except for her singing voice – but she had to have some kind of flaw, or else it’s just not fair. After reading the previous five books in the Cloverleigh Farms series, I knew I would want to read every book by Melanie Harlow that came out.

You guys can stay with Aunt Bree and your cousins while Uncle Justin and I get the big stuff moved in. The author always mentions how the pigtails are always lopsided and that he's always too rough when brushing the girls' hair. Remembering not to curse was a tough job after twelve years in the Navy, something my ex didn’t seem to appreciate. Twenty two year old Winnie has lost track of the amount of times she’s fallen in love and been heartbroken when it doesn’t work out. Winnie immediately noticed the hot guy that moved in next door and when they actually meet you can actually feel sparks fly.

While the girls were still asleep in my room, I stripped their twin beds and stuffed the bedding into big garbage bags. While Dex was never the true love kind of guy, the disappointment of his marriage has convinced him that being single is the way to go. But I was here, I was trying my best, and I always put my children first—which was more than my father had done. I adored Winnie so much she’s had a few disastrous relationships and has sworn off men… enter her seriously hot neighbour Dex. They were both flawed and were trying hard to not hate each other and to make concessions where possible.
